The cities of Corvallis and Albany are situated in the heart of Oregon's Willamette Valley, along the Interstate 5 corridor, with quick and easy access to almost any environment or activity you would care to contemplate. A couple of hours drive time takes you to a host of places...the city of Portland is only 90 minutes away. On the scenic Oregon coast the city of Newport and it's attractions are close enough to make for a fun and easy Sunday drive. If you are a skier, there are a number of ski resorts within easy reach; with Mt. Hood offering about the only year round skiing in the U.S.
Corvallis and Albany qualify as small cities, with both cities having populations of around 45,000. The surrounding area is primarily open agricultural land, since the Willamette Valley produces most of the grass seed for the United States (and about 80% of the world's Rye grass seed). The people who live here tend to have a more relaxed way of life. They have pride in their schools and children and don't suffer from some of the more stressful elements of city life (including high crime rates).
Economically speaking, the area is home to a growing number of high-tech firms with Hewlett-Packard and Teledyne Wah-Chang being some of the more notable entries on the list. Corvallis is also home to Oregon State University and enjoys the benefits a large university can bring to a community.
